My Learning Plan (Initial) for Assessment Course

My Learning Plan (Assessment Course)

(please note that I have formatted this in point form because it is easier to read)
Goals:
  • Understand what makes for a good assessment
  • Learn how to develop good formal assessment tools
  • Learn good informal assessment techniques

Learning it:
  • Looking at a range of examples of what encompasses good assessment
  • Reading a variety of references on assessment types and how to use them
  • Accessing good examples of assessment on Tutela
  • Viewing assessment techniques in the classroom and talking to mentors about their   assessment tools and techniques, and what works for them.
  • Information and feedback from course instructor
  • Viewing the reaction of students in the classroom to different types of assessment, and talking to them about how they feel about different assessments

Achieving it:
  • Feeling comfortable with the definitions of different types of assessment and understanding what they mean.
  • Being able to create and practice many types of assessment
  • Learning about assessment should be an ongoing experience as an ESL teacher.

Demonstrating it:
  • Creating various forms of assessment is a good way to practice and learn,
  • Getting feedback from peers and teachers is good
  • Ultimately it's the real classroom experience that will tell if it works.

Notes:
  • From volunteering I have learned thatgood assessment is one of the key components of language learning.
  • Therefore, I recognize how important this course is in my development as a teacher.
