Life is a bowl full of cherries.... sometimes sour, sometimes sweet!

Corrective Feedback of R and L Pronunciation

Making the R sound:

1) The learner should use a mirror so they can see positioning of the tongue and mouth. They can also use a video taken on their phone to help on their own.
2) Turn the tip of your tongue up, not touching the roof of the mouth
3) Make sure the tongue is in the back of your mouth. Smiling will help do this.
4) Have the sides of your tongue touching the back teeth.
5) Check the tongue is in the right position for the R sound by breathing in and feeling the air going over the tongue.
6) Have the student say several sounds with the R sound.

Making the L sound:

1) Again, use a mirror to help position your tongue.
2) The tongue should be against the back of the top teeth (ridge).
3) Making the sound, let air flow around the tongue. You should feel the air.
4) When breathing in, you should feel cool air along sides of the tongue. This tells you if the tongue is in the right position.
5) Practice words with the L sound.
